Question What is FedeF1?

Answer It's a fan web site dedicated to Formula 1 Racing. It first appeared in 1995 under the name of Fede's Formula 1 Page, hosted on the University of Southampton's server. When the site maintener was finally thrown out of University with her piece of paper, the site moved to a commercial server. Recently the site underwent a major revamp, changed its name to the shorter FedeF1 and acquired its own domain. It is still maintaned by the same person, who really doesn't have anything better to do with her time. Fede's Formula 1 Page underwent several changes of look throughout its lifetime, which accounts for the different graphic styles in the pages relating to past seasons (yes, it did start up with the hideous green script font with shadows. What was I thinking of?).

Question Why did you set up FedeF1 then?

Answer Basically, FedeF1 is my playground. I'm honoured that people come to check it out and use it, but really it is just my playground. I originally created it to teach myself HTML back in my college days and it seems to have taken up a life of its own. I have used it to teach myself Javascript too, but I think that's as far as I'll go with it. I believe that it has reached the maximum size and complexity that can be maintaned by one person with a full time job in her spare time and using only non-professional software. So, I don't think I'll be adding any new sections anytime soon.

Question What software do you use?

Answer The first incarnation of FedeF1 (then Fede's Formula 1 Page) was produced using vi on a Sun Solaris system. Then I started using Emacs. Now I use Notepad. The graphics is done with Paint Shop Pro.

How often does FedeF1 get updated?

Answer Generally the news section is updated daily. The Race Reports, Graphs and Results sections are updated after every race. However, I have a life and I like going out with my friends, having weekends away etc, so there is no strict schedule. If a race day is nice and sunny, I'll probably be out in my garden with a cool beer or out on Whitmoor Common with my mountain bike after the GP, instead of updating the site. Shocking, isn't it? sometimes I go on business trips, so no updates happen until I come back.

Question Hey, a couple of Grand Prix Reports for the 2001 season are missing!

Answer I know. I went through a busy spot during which real life kept on interfering and I didn't have the time to write them. Deal with it.

I have submitted my F1 page for inclusion in the Links Pages, but it has not appeared yet

Answer I probably haven't had the time to add it yet.

Answer I wonder why.

I think driver X smells, I'm sure there is a conspiracy to make team Y win etc etc.

Answer No.

Do you sell GP tickets or VIP passes?

Answer No.

Can you give me Ecclestone's and Mosley's email addresses?

Answer No. Even if I had them.

I made a bet with my mates and I win a pint if I find this obscure F1 reference. Can you help me?

Answer If I give you the answer, chances are I looked for it on the web. If I can find it out there, so can you.

Answer I'll be sure to mention it to Bernie next time I'm round his place for a BBQ.

Who is Fede anyway?

Answer That's me. I was born in Milan (Italy) ....some years ago. My family is from Monza (yes, the place of the Italian GP. No, they can't accomodate any visitors during the GP weekend).
